10th dA Birthday

It's crazy, Guys! The clock has just struck midnight and it's my 10th dA birthday

*gives birthday cake to everyone reading*

I have never been active on any website for so long!

I have never had this sort of a home. dA is the first community that springs to my mind when I think of looking for inspiring and beautiful art. It's been a home for my own digital artworks ever since I started creating them. Now, I'll stop it, I'm already a bit... misty-eyed

I've seen people come and go, made friendships, took part in a few community projects and lots of contents. Most of all, I've had a lot of fun

My first year, 2006, was mainly about browsing and collecting faves. In 2007 I had a go at creating first stuff in Gimp. I couldn't do much, so I used mainly transparent stocks and brushes. The result can still be found in my gallery. A sentimental creature that's what I am...

Later, I got hooked on the process of creating. Imagining new fantasy stories, new worlds, new characters. Below I've put together the years and main key words of artworks and commentary.

dA's Prodigal Daughter

Hi Guys, long time, no journal from me! How are you? Did you miss me?

It's funny to take a look at the journal skins that I installed like... 3? 4 years ago? I can see them on the right and can't help but giggle at the taste I used to have (not pretty sure if by choosing this one it has dramatically improved

I admit, though, I'm too lazy for the moment to browse through new skins).

I guess that the gap between the last journal and this one is far too wide to cover even a small percentage of my life journey. I'll leave the personal side then and focus entirely on what's been going on in the art sphere.

Detour
I have taken a long detour from digital art for the last few years. I have been always close to its borders, sometimes trying to bring back the passion and creativity that I remembered so well. Yet they weren't there as wholeheartedly as I had wished to. My heart was stolen by photography.

Photography Path
At some point I looked at my works and couldn't help but think that something was missing. I embarked on the photo adventure with two main goals: improve lighting, understand composition better, and build my own stock inventory. After a one year course in studio, I joined summer workshops for fine art photographers. The latter has changed me. Along with one of my friends, we've been having fun with coming up with different styling, make-up, jewellery, picking clothes for the model, arranging dates for shooting.. It's been the most challenging and wonderful path I could have ever imagined!

Hopes
As I told you, the detour was long, but I feel that I'll be coming back to digital art now. I feel it. With new ideas, new photos, new experiments. I'll try to use my own resources more and more often. I've been creating different brushes, textures, taking a variety of stock photos. Over time I hope to re-activate feainne-stock and share new stuff with you!

PS. It feels so good to have 26 new deviations to discover. Well, nothing wrong with the previous number of 6,549 either...

PS 2. My 10th dA birthday is coming... On the 13 April. It's an epic milestone for me, so watch out in April!

You do not need to say it, really. I know that most of you are tired of winter. So am I. But today it seems less... tiring. I guess it has something to do with... ...a DD!
